Annual Events
It has been described as the most fun you can have with your dog and other dog lovers. So, what is Goldstock? In order to truly understand, you have to come and experience it for yourself.
Canine Good Citizen® Testing
The Canine Good Citizen Program (AKC) is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club. Please click here to read a list of requirements to take the test at camp.
Lure Coursing
Lure coursing is a fun sport for dogs that involves running after a mechanical lure in a controlled environment. It was a great addition to Goldstock 2018, and if you’ve never tried it, most dogs love doing it. Goldstock is the perfect place to give it a try.
Friday night trivia is probably the most difficult trivia you’ll play, but like everything else at Goldstock, it’s all about raising money for rescue. Drinks will be available, as with most things at Goldstock, and there will be snacks. The judges decisions are final…NO BRIBING…and no cell phones allowed.
Cabin Decorating Contest
For most of the past 20 + years of Goldstock, we have had a different theme each year, and to celebrate the theme. This year, we are having a Safari! Decorate your cart or even your dog (dogs), but get their consent in writing!
The Sweetest Dog Contest
Do you think YOUR dog is the sweetest dog at Goldstock? Here’s a just-for-fun contest to find out. Your dog gets extra pets, gives extra kisses, shows off its special tricks, and if people agree your dog is sweet, they vote with their wallets! The girl and boy dog who raise the most votes/money win a prize, AND their favorite rescue(s) get the money!
The Doggy Olympics
This is an all morning event that begins Sunday on the main green with the land events and concludes down at the lake with the fastest swimmer contest and finally the main event – dock diving. All events are designed to allow your youngest pup to your oldest senior the opportunity to show off their athletic chops. The judges do accept bribes to increase your dogs “style points”. All entry fees and “bribes” go to support rescue organizations.
Golden Glove Baseball Game
A star-studded event filled with super kids and amazing dogs. Just add a ball and you have complete and total fun chaos.
Pup Art
A relatively new event at Goldstock, pup painting is a time for arts and crafts with your furry friend. Come check it out and, together with your pup, create a keepsake for your desktop, walls, or even for your holiday tree!
Rescue Parade and Recognition of Senior Dogs
This is an opportunity to introduce new rescues to the joys of camp and hear their incredible stories. Or celebrate the beauty and grace of our senior dogs.
The Candle Ceremony and Slideshow
This is an incredibly moving ceremony commemorates our pets, family and friends who have passed since last Goldstock. A slideshow plays continuously. At the end of the ceremony, one may light individual candles and place them in and around the fireplace. The atmosphere is peaceful and supporting.
Pooches on the Porch
An opportunity to relax and party with other Goldstockers and their pups on the porch (and surrounding grassy area because c’mon – they can’t ALL fit on the porch! ) of a lakeside cabin. Snacks and “beverages” are provided, and pooches have been known to show keen interest in human snacks!
Bobbing for apples
Your dog will bob for apples floating in a tub and pull them out of the water (you hope). Prizes will be given for canine bobbers who remove the most apples from the tub.
Therapy dog recognition
Are you the human half of a therapy team? Bring your canine good-doer to the top of the hill Saturday afternoon for some story telling and appreciation.
Ovarian Cancer Awareness
Wear teal Friday afternoon for a special gathering!
