Doggy Olympics

Sunday morning, rain or shine!

This is an all morning event that begins after breakfast on the main green with the land events (retrieving, the sassy walk, an obstacle course and a sit-stay contest), and concludes down at the lake with the fastest swimmer contest and finally the main event – dock diving. Events may change from year to year, but all events are designed to allow your youngest pup to your oldest senior the opportunity to show off what they can do. You will sign up in the dining hall during breakfast and make a small donation for each event your dog is entering. $7.00 per event, $35.00 for 6 events. Thinking of bribing the judges? Good. Bribing the judges is encouraged during the Sassy Walk, since all proceeds will benefit rescue.

OBSTACLE COURSE

The course can be done on or off leash. Just a fun walk with your dog through the course holding a tennis ball on a spoon at the same time. You can do it.

CIRCLE THE WAGONS

Dogs and handlers face each other in a circle. You put your dog in a sit and stay, and the winner is the last dog sitting. There will be gradual distractions as the game continues, so start practicing that sit-stay. No bribes will be accepted on this one. It’s a true test of obedience.
PUPPY Class Sit and Stay for puppies up to age one.

THE RIGHTEOUS RETRIEVER

After all, that’s what goldens do, they run and retrieve. But, of course, all breeds are welcome to show off their inner retriever. Beware of the dogs that prefer to steal and run! You will need two humans to play this game, so recruit a friend, or we will find one for you.

THE SASSY WALK

Dress your dog in an amazing costume or just a fun bandana as we judge from behind. That’s the walking view. The Sassy Walk will also be the only event this year that accepts bribes. Yes, your dog can gain “Style” points with currency attached to his collar.

FASTEST SWIMMER

There will have three classes: Puppies, Seniors, and Open. It’s a race for the tennis ball. The dog must bring the ball back to the handler. Balls cannot be dropped in the water and the handler go get it. If the ball is dropped, it is free game for another dog.

2 Water Events Special Classes:

Puppy Swimmers: up to age one.

Senior Swimmers: mature pups 8 years old and up.

DOCK DIVING

Whether your dog is a flyer or a flopper, it will enjoy this event. But it is the longest jump that wins.
